By: Autumn Grzenia

On March 11th, an email was sent out to the Coe community by David Hayes, President of Coe College, announcing that current Provost and Dean of the Faculty, Paula O’Loughlin, will be leaving Coe. She will continue to serve in her current roles through the meeting of the board in late May.

O’Loughlin will be leaving Coe College to serve as the Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs and Provost at Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Throughout her career at Coe, O’Loughlin has made lasting impressions through her works in overseeing academic affairs, providing leadership to student life, efforts with diversity, equality, and inclusion, Covid-19, and even after the derecho that occurred in August of 2020. Also during her time here, the college has seen a rise in a number of new programs, such as minors in Health and Society and majors in criminal and social justice as well as data science all thanks to her excellent work on campus.

President Hayes and the executive committee of the faculty have already begun exploring their steps and options as they start to seek out a new Chief Academic Officer for Coe. President Hayes stated  that he will continue to be in communication with the campus as they move forward in finding a new Chief Academic Officer.

On behalf of everyone in the Coe community, the Cosmos editorial team wishes O’Loughlin the best in her new adventures at Augsburg University. She will forever be part of the crimson and gold family.
