Presidential Search

The search for Coe’s next College President, following former president David McInally stepping down, continues this week with three different candidates coming to campus.

On Monday, September 13; Wednesday, September 15; and Friday, September 17, students can attend two open forums with each candidate in Dows theatre. The first session that is open to students is from 8:00 am to 8:45 am on each of the days. The second session is from 2:15 pm to 3:00 pm. The sessions will be held at the same time at the same location on each day a candidate is on campus.

The college requires everyone who attends the fora to sign a confidentiality agreement, meaning that students, faculty, and staff promise to keep a secret of the identity of each candidate from people outside of the Coe community. The presidential search committee says that by promising confidentiality, it helps broaden the number of people willing to apply for a job. They say sometimes a candidate will not want their current employer to know they are applying elsewhere, and so may prevent otherwise good Presidential search candidates from applying..

For those attending the in-person events, the college asks you to print the confidentiality  agreement and sign it before coming to Dows, but there will be hard copies available at the theatre for those who forget. Questions for this event were requested in advance. Please note that there is a third session that is open only to faculty and staff members from 9:15 to 10:00 am.

The Coe College Presidential Search Committee says it will release information to all members of the Coe community a day before they arrive on campus, but they also ask that this information not be shared with anyone who isn’t a student, faculty member, or staff.

There will be a confidential survey that is unique to each candidate to fill out after their forum is complete. Surveys will be due by 5:00 pm on Saturday, September 18.
