Coe’s 16th President

After a long thorough search process for Coe’s 16th president, Coe announced on Friday that Interim President David Hayes (‘93) will be the next president and will be assuming that position immediately.

Hayes has been acting as interim president since January 1, 2021 when former President David McInally announced his retirement. Hayes has positively been contributing to the Coe community by helping with the recovery from the August 2020 derecho, helping the Coe community navigate through a public health crisis, and much more.

Aside from graduating from Coe in 1993, Hayes was also a professor at Coe and received the Charles J. Lynch Outstanding Teacher Award not once, but twice while he was a professor at Coe and held the Louis J. & Ella Pochobradsky chair. Hayes also previously directed the pre-law and environmental studies program here at Coe while he was a professor.
