Coe College Falls to Central College

The Coe College Kohawks hosted the undefeated Central College Dutch last Saturday. Coe came into this game off a bye week. The Kohawks fell to the Dutch by a score of 21-55. 

On offense, the Kohawks struggled to run the football. They posted 84 yards on 39 attempts, making for an average of 2.1 yards-per-carry. The Kowhawks were able to punch in two touchdowns on the ground, with Junior runningback Chance Newton and Junior runningback Bridger Aucutt both scoring. Most of the Kohawks yards came in the air, with Junior quarterback Nick Casey throwing for 296 yards on 22 for 44 completions. His longest pass was a 67-yard touchdown pass to Junior wide receiver Dominic Shepardson in the first quarter. Casey was sacked four times, however, and threw two interceptions. Shepardson led the team in receiving, posting 108 yards on six receptions. Junior wide receiver Amel Saric caught three balls and added 70 yards as well. 

Defensively, the Kohawks were unable to force a turnover. They forced the Dutch to 13 first downs, but the Dutch converted eight of them. They gave up 503 yards in the air, but they were able to stop the Dutch from running the ball effectively. The Dutch had 111yards on the ground through 33 attempts, posting an average of 3.4 yards-per-carry. Sophomore defensive lineman Alex Aitchison and Sophomore linebacker Jay Oostendorp each sacked the Dutch quarterback. Senior linebacker Manny Lopez led the team in total tackles with nine, while Junior defensive back Trey Holub added seven total tackles.
