Faculty Art Exhibit

By: Brady Behrend

The art department held an opening reception last Friday for their Faculty Art Exhibitions for Spring 2022. The reception took place in the Sinclair Galleries from 5:00-7:00 PM.

The exhibitions were created and curated by faculty members of the art department, Professor Peter Thompson and Professor Ranelle Knight-Lueth.

Thompson’s exhibition, titled “Notes from Florence,” features oil paintings from his time in Italy. Among the impressive oil paintings, there are portraits as well as paintings of people in everyday life. Some of the portraits even showcase former and current Coe College faculty members as subjects.

Knight-Lueth’s exhibition, titled “Highlights from the Permanent Collection,” displays a wide variety of artwork from Coe’s permanent collection. Among the artwork, there is a painting featuring three former buildings from Coe’s campus. However, paintings are not the only mediums in this collection. There are also lithographs, silkscreens, and sculptures as well. Two of the sculptures, both marbles busts, come from an unknown source. This exhibition also includes work from Coe students and faculty members.

These art exhibitions will run from January 28-March 11 in the Sinclair Galleries. The galleries are open from 4:00-6:00 PM every day, so check out all of the works of art while they are still on display.
